2012 Application

Application for 2012 CILT Classes
The Colorado Institute for Leadership Training (CILT) recognizes that leadership can take many forms. Over 550 activists have graduated from our leadership training program and have gone on to serve as members of the U.S. Congress, State Legislators, County Commissioners, School Board Members, Mayors, City Council Members, Sheriffs, Campaign Managers, and County Chairs to name just a few. Leadership, however, is much more than the art of getting elected to office. Other alumni have become more active in policy discussions, their churches, their neighborhoods, their service organizations, or their communities.

The Class of 2012 is our 23rd class and our 22nd year since inception. Emerging leaders from all backgrounds, age groups, and regions of the state are encouraged to apply. Typically, members of each class come from a wide variety of professional and life experience backgrounds and from all areas of the state, including the Denver metro area, Loveland, the Western Slope, Pueblo, Castle Pines, Westminster, Fort Collins, and Grand Junction. Each CILT class session addresses a different set of issues and is held in a different part of the state.

Our first class begins with a get-to-know-one-another meal in Estes Park Friday evening and ends at 5:00 Saturday. Three of the more remote classes will start Friday evening, again, with a social meal or gathering, go all day Saturday ending with another evening social gathering, and finish Sunday by noon. These three require two nights' lodging, for which we usually get block deals. These classes are highlighted.

Copies of the application are available by clicking "Apply Online" in the upper left menu, or you can copy the questions below and submit your answers to , or to CILT, at P.O. Box 18302, Denver, Colorado 80218.

The deadline to apply for the class of 2012 is November 4, 2011.

2012 Tuition
Tuition for CILT for 2012 remains at $750*, which includes 10 sessions over six months of traveling all over Colorado, learning about the critical issues facing the state, discussing related public policies, engaging with experts on a variety of topics, and building relationships with classmates and other engaged Coloradans. The actual market cost of the program is about $2,500, but we are proud to be able to subsidize your tuition cost through the support of our alumni and other civic-minded individuals and organizations, our speakers, tour guides and special guests, all of whom believe strongly in the mission of CILT. Limited financial assistance may be available; please contact us at or 720-239-CILT (2458) for more information on our newly established Scholarship Fund. We also encourage you to seek assistance from others, including possibly from your employer, co-workers, neighbors, church organizations, or others who may benefit directly or indirectly from your increased civic knowledge as a CILT Alum.

*Other Costs
Breakfast and lunch are included with each class; however, tuition does not include travel costs, lodging, evening meals, or extra entertainment on overnight trips. Total travel costs are around $500 per person (double occupancy) total, and may be less or a bit more depending on where you live in the state. We do our very best to utilize group rates and other discounts to ensure these additional costs are as low as possible and encourage carpooling and doubling up. Please also note that CILT tuition, travel costs and lodging may be tax-deductible because of CILT’s 501(c)(3) IRS status. We encourage you to consult with your tax advisor to learn if this applies to you.
