The Colorado Institute for Leadership Training:

The Institute recognizes that leadership can take many forms.  CILT has graduated over 500 activists from our leadership-training program. These alumni have gone on to serve as state legislators, county chairs, county commissioners, school board members,  mayors, city council members, sheriffs and campaign managers. We define politics, however, as more than the art of getting elected to office.  Other alumni have chosen to become more active in policy discussions, their church, their neighborhood, their service organization, or their community.

The incoming Class of 2010  represents the 20th class.  Emerging  leaders, from all backgrounds, age groups, and regions of the state, will participate in this class. The Class of 2009 participants came from the Metropolitan region, Fort Collins, Colorado Springs, Pagosa Springs andnd Summit County and from a wide variety of professional and life experience backgrounds.

Each session deals with a different skill or subject and is held in a different part of the state.  Two of the classes in the 2010 schedule, the Garfield and Prowers County weekends, involve Friday Night, Saturday, and Sunday. The Friday nights involve traveling late afternoon and into the evening to get to the destination. Class will end Sunday at noon.

The applications for the Class of 2010 are now available. There is an early enrollment deadline of September 15, at which time the board will make an early determination regarding those applicants. The final deadline for applications is October 30, 2009.
