In addition to CILT's annual statewide leadership program, the Institute has developed a wide range of programs and services including issue salons where one can discuss current issues, happy hours and networking events, alumni workshops, and social/cultural events such as theater tickets and Rockies games. Most of these events are open to the public. The actual classes, alumni workshops, and alumni retreats are reserved for CILT alumni and current class members. NITROGEN DEPOSITION: ISSUES AND EFFECTS IN ROCKY MOUNTAIN NATIONAL PARK

Thursday, June 16 2005, 6:30pm - 8:30pm

CILT is excited to grow our Salon and Workshop program in Northern Colorado. Kick off this program with Dr. Jill Baron of NREL and Mike Silverstein of the Colorado Air Polution Control Division, who will be discussing Nitrogen Deposition: Issues and Effects in Rocky Mountain National Park. Rocky Mountain National Park is adjacent to many man-made sources of air pollution. Motor vehicles, industry, energy development and generation, and agriculture all contribute reactive nitrogen to the atmosphere, and the deposition of nitrogen on Rocky Mountain National Park ecosystems is at least 10 times greater than natural levels.  Ecological effects from nitrogen include changes in tundra, forests, and lakes. We will discuss the current problem with Dr. Baron and potential solutions with Mr. Silverstein. We are meeting at the Court House at 200 W. Oak in Ft. Collins in the County Commissioners Hearing room on the south side of the first floor. RSVP to Laura at cilt@comcast.net.
