Given that we are the Colorado Institute for Leadership Training, and given that any number of alumni are engaged in policy discussions around Colorado at various levels, it follows that CILT should experience a day at the State Legislature. That day is Monday, May 1st. With just 10 days left in the legislative session, CILT Alumni and Current Class Members are invited to take part in the CILT Day at the Legislature. CILT Alumni, Class Members and Friends are invited to join us at the Red Room for a Legislative Reception at 5:00 pm. AGENDA 9:30 am - Meet at the Legislature - Introduction 10:00 am - CILT Introduced on the House Floor by Representative Fran Coleman (CILT 95), Watch House Proceedings 12:30 pm - Lunch at the Red Room 2:00 pm - Immigration and Bilingual Education Ballot Initiatives (at the CEA) - Speakers: Manolo Gonzalez-Estay, Director Keep Colorado Safe; and Anna Sampaio, Professor, University of Colorado at Denver, Latino Politics 3:30 pm - Colorado Health Care Policy Issues - Speakers: Lorez Meinhold, Executive Director, Colorado Consumer Health Initiative; and Jennifer Miles, Health Care Lobbyist and Expert 5:00 pm - Legislative Reception - The Red Room Venues: Our afternoon programming will take place at the Colorado Education Association on the NE Corner of Grant and Colfax. The Red Room is on Colfax between Grant and Logan. Cost: The Cost of the Program is $25.00 and includes programming and the Reception. The programming is open to CILT Alumni and Current Class Members. Meet up with Legislators and other CILT Alumni, Class Members, and Friends for the Reception at 5:00 pm. The cost for the Reception alone is $10 and includes two drinks and light appetizers. We have made arrangements at the Red Room for lunch, however each individual is responsible for their lunch costs.
Hotel Accomodations: For those of you who would like to stay in Downtown Denver, we have secured rooms at the Warwick (19th and Grant) for $119 per night. The block of rooms is available for Sunday, April 30 and Monday, May 1 at the rate of $119 per night. Parking: The State Capitol website suggests parking at the new lot just south of the Denver Public Library at Broadway and 13th.
